The People

In the spirit of honour, respect, and reciprocity we acknowledge that this land, know as mohkinstsis (Blackfoot), kootsisáw (Tsuut’ina), and wincheeshpah (Stoney), is the traditional territory and home of the oral practices of the Siksikaitsitapi (the Black Foot confederacy), and is comprised of the Niitsítapi (the real people in Blackfoot) including the Kainai, the Piikani, and the Siksika, as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Îyârhe Nakoda, Stoney Nakoda Nations, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations, and is also known as Treaty 7 territory.

Additionally the City of Calgary is home to the Metis Nation of Alberta districts 5 & 6.
